Junya Tanaka, Board of Managers Representative

Junya Tanaka is a member of the EMVCo Executive Committee and Board of Managers, representing JCB Co., Ltd. He also acts as Chair for the Interoperability Working Group. Within JCB, Junya is Senior Vice President of Brand Infrastructure & Technology Department of JCB, and is currently focused on strategy planning and establishing vendor relationships. Junya's main responsibility is to expand the products compliant with J/Smart(TM), JCB's smart card program, including chip, cards, and issuing systems. He graduated from Keio University in Tokyo, Japan.

Warren Hayashi, Managing Director, Core Payments Group

Warren Hayashi is the Managing Director for the Core Payments Group for PayPal Asia Pacific. He and his team are responsible for the region’s payments processing as well as launching innovative products enabling PayPal consumers and merchants to use their preferred payment instruments on PayPal, including various credit, debit cards and bank accounts. He is also responsible for managing the relationships with financial institution partners across Asia. He joined PayPal in 2003 in their San Jose, California headquarters and relocated to Singapore in 2007. Prior to PayPal, he spent 3 years at Cap Gemini Ernst & Young and 4 years at Deloitte & Touche. Warren has an MBA from the Kellogg Graduate School of Business and a BS in Computer Science and BA in Economics from Stanford University.

Cris Topfner-Rigby, Payment Services DM

Cris Topfner-Rigby is a payment executive with over 20 years experience in the industry and a background in research both in Australia and abroad. At Coles, Cris’ responsibilities include payment strategy and policy advice, operational excellence, maintenance and support of the payments eco-systems, sourcing and vendor management, as well as project delivery of payments initiatives across the diverse client base from supermarkets, liquor, petrol, general merchandise and apparel to hotel businesses. She represents Coles on a number of payments industry forums and committees at Standards Australia, Australian Payments Clearing Association and ePAL (eftpos Payments Australia Ltd). Cris is a senior member of the Australian Computer Society, Certified Professional and a graduate of the Mt. Eliza Business School.

Hande Polat, Corporate Communications Manager

Hande Polat is the Corporate Communications Manager at BKM (the Interbank Card Center of Turkey) and has been serving within this role since 2008. She started her career at Turkish Airlines as a Marketing Specialist in 1999 where she worked for 2 years. Afterwards she worked in the Product & Brand Management (Payment Systems) department of Garanti Bank between 2001-2006 and the Marketing & Corporate Communications department of Deloitte between 2006-2008. Hande holds an MBA degree from Bahcesehir University in Istanbul, Turkey.

Ian D. Courtnage, CEO

Ian D. Courtnage is the CEO of EVO International Payments LLC where he is responsible for all business development activities of EVO throughout the Asia Pacific region.

Previously, Mr. Courtnage served as President of Global Payments Asia Pacific where he was responsible for all aspects of Global Payments business throughout the region. In former years he was an International Executive with the HSBC Group through which his last assignment involved fundamentally restructuring HSBC’s Asia Pacific card payments business, which culminated in the Global Payments, HSBC Joint Venture.

Mr. Courtnage’s career, prior to joining Global Payments, spanned 17 years with HSBC and included positions as business head of the Bank’s commercial card and merchant acquiring businesses in the U.K. and prior to his Hong Kong posting, Senior Vice President, Head of Card Services, HSBC Bank U.S.A

Yu Haiquan, Principal Application Engineer, SmartMX Customer Application Support, Greater China
NXP Semiconductors

Yu Haiquan is the Principal Application Engineer for Greater China at NXP Semiconductors where he oversees the SmartMX Customer Application Support section and leads the CPU Card technical team. Previously he has worked in the Technology Research Unit of China PLA (Beijing region), the R&D Center of China’s Ministry of Construction (MOC) as well in Infineon’s Technical Department. He has been awarded The PLA’s Scientific and Technological 2nd and 3rd prize in recognition of his outstanding achievements and performance within the industry. His main areas of focus include China ePassport development, banking IC card migration, China MOC transportation and Mobile Payment projects.

Sammy Kam, Technical Director
Octopus Holdings Limited

Sammy Kam is the Technical Director at Octopus Holdings Limited (OCL) which he joined in 1995 and has since been involved in the development, implementation and operation of the Octopus system in Hong Kong. As Technical Director, he manages a team of IT professionals with diversified skills and extensive experience in contactless smart card applications, central clearing house system design and large-scale international projects. He has over 20 years of experience in software development and system integration projects.

Mr. Kam holds a Master of Science degree in Information Systems Management and an MBA degree from Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. He is a Chartered IT Professional, Chartered Engineer and also a professional member of the British Computer Society. Before joining Octopus, he has worked in the software engineering departments of leading computer vendors, including Digital Equipment Corporation and Unisys China Limited.

Nigel Beatty, Regional Vice President

Nigel Beatty is Regional Vice President at Aconite. He has over twenty five years experience in the card payments business, gained with a number of blue-chip companies including American Express, NatWest Group and the UK's SWITCH card scheme. He has been involved with smart cards and smart payments since the early 1990s and played key roles in the migration of the UK payments industry to EMV and the subsequent move to Chip and PIN. Nigel has worked in a consulting role with major card schemes on smart prepaid and mobile product development and within Aconite is now responsible for business development and sales support in Asia and the Americas. Nigel has spoken widely on smart payments topics at numerous conferences and trade shows and is regularly published in prestigious industry journals, most recently on the topic of prepaid EMV cards in the magazine Cards Now Asia.

Ursula Schilling, Senior Manager, Business Development, Chip Card and Security Division

As Senior Manager for Business Development within the Chip Card and Security Division of Infineon Technologies AG, Ursula Schilling is responsible for all Payment business development activities within Infineon. In particular Ursula is responsible for the strategic setup and project management with regard to the Payment application. She has more than 14 years of experience in the smart card industry including business development activities for prepaid telecom business & marketing activities for various applications. Ursula completed her studies at Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität in Munich with a master degree in economics and a degree as Europe correspondent in the English Institute in Heidelberg.

Carl Clump, Group Chairman

Carl Clump is the Group Chairman of ReD Ltd, a world leader in card fraud prevention and payment processing. He was appointed Group Chairman in 2011 which succeeded his previous role as Chief Executive Officer of ReD, the company he founded in 2000. For the three years 2007 – 2009, ReD was in the top 100 fastest growing UK, Private Equity owned companies.

Previously, he spent 13 years with Texaco where he held roles such as European Marketing Coordinator; Divisional Manager, UK Marketing and Planning Division; and President Directeur Général of TEPAR a consortium of European card issuing companies. He then became Group Managing Director of The Harpur Group Limited - an international processor and issuer of corporate cards. He led the management buyout of Retail Decisions plc which was effected in December 2006 by Palamon Capital Partners for £186 million pounds.

Carl has an MBA from the Cranfield School of Management. He has lived and worked in France, Belgium, UK, USA, Australia, and is now based in Singapore.

Simon Jones, Sales Manager, Test Tools

Simon Jones is the Sales Manager for Test Tools with Barnes International Limited based in the UK. Barnes International Ltd is a globally recognised test tool and consultancy provider for Card Manufacturers, Banks, Bureau, Payment Schemes, stakeholders in EMV migration and GlobalPlatform. He has 14 years experience in the card industry. At Barnes, he has been responsible for global technical sales activities which have contributed to the Barnes name being synonymous with Card Testing on a global scale. His previous roles included mobile e-commerce, mobile payments, testing and transaction processing and have provided a wealth of experience directly related to EMV payment technology implementations. He graduated from Brunel University in Uxbridge, United Kingdom.

Siew Ling Chua, Director and Head of Emerging Payments, Global Network Services, Japan/AP/Australia

Siew Ling joined American Express International Inc’s Global Network Services business division in early 2010, based in Singapore, to spearhead their Emerging Payments business strategy, identify new revenue opportunities and develop business alliances with new strategic issuing partners in non-traditional sectors across Japan, Asia Pacific and Australia. She was instrumental in bringing together the partners for the launch of the first NFC mobile payments trial in Amex, as well as signing up the first MNO issuer. Previously, Siew Ling worked in StarHub Ltd as VP and Head of a new unit focusing on Transaction and Payment Services, and was General Manager of QB Pte Ltd which was responsible for opening up Singapore’s Ez-link transport contactless card for acceptance for micro payments in the non-transit sector. She has spent 7 years with Visa International in Product & Marketing, Strategic Projects as well as Technology departments and has held roles in DBS Bank managing their consumer banking IT systems.

Joe Zhou, Independent Consultant

Joe Zhou started his career as a R&D engineer in Singapore after graduating from Nanyang Technologies University with a Masters degree. He later rapidly expanded in industry skill and knowledge while serving in Watchdata Technologies Pte Ltd as a Technical Manager and then Regional Sales Manager. The first 5 years of his career allowed Joe to build a sound understanding of smart card technology and business, particularly in the sectors of transportation and payment. He later explored the dynamics of electronic payment in terms of its operation and various business applications. Joe later served for one year at NETS, a national level payment network in Singapore and since January 2012 has been working at CSE-ITS Pte Ltd (CSE Global Ltd) as the company’s Director, responsible for global market ePayment solutions development and consulting services in the intelligent transportation sectors.

John Zou, Product Manager

Zhongren (John) Zou is Product Manager at Tongfang Microelectronics Co., Ltd (TMC). He graduated from the Department of Electronic Engineering Tsinghua University and received his Master degree at Institute of Microelectronics Tsinghua University. He joined TCM at 2009, and focused on Payment Smartcard IC from then on.

Max Chen, CEO

Max Chen is the CEO of Live by Touch Co., Ltd, an Asian leading company specializing in fingerprint payment. Max Chen started his career as a founder of the website “classover.com” when he was an undergraduate, and was by then reputed as the youngest CEO in China. He then launched 3 mainstream magazines; Mum and Baby, Digital Youngster, and Little Place. Later, he established the investment fund Richen Capital, the portfolio of which includes companies Linktone Ltd., Focus Media, 80card.com, mplife.com, Tulip Mega Media, V516, Yongqi Hair&Beuty Salon amongst others. Max Chen invested and regrouped Live By Touch co., Ltd in 2006, to create a new product inspired by Robert Zemeckis’ Back to the Future II called “Pay By Finger”.

James Fang, Director
Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART), San Francisco

James Fang is the longest serving Director on the BART Board. He represents the 8th BART District, which includes portions of San Francisco. He is currently Chairperson for the Board’s Engineering and Operations Committee. He also serves as a member of the Board’s newly-formed Sustainability/Green Committee and as a member of the Metropolitan Transportation Commission Liaison Committee. Additionally, Director Fang serves as a member of the Capitol Corridor Joint Powers Board and the Silicon Valley Rapid Transit Project Policy Advisory Board. In addition, Mr. Fang is the President of Asian Week, the largest circulation Asian-American publication in the United States.
