BC Card to make Keynote presentation about CLiP Card

APSCA is delighted to announce that BC Card, the South Korean domestic payment scheme and one of the largest merchant acquirers and outsourced issuers in Asia Pacific, will make the keynote presentation at the Powered and Next-Generation Cards conference in Singapore on 1 November.

A FinTech approach to payment cards
BC Card will discuss their recently launched CLiP Card, a powered next-generation card that can store up to 21 different payment, transportation and membership cards. BC Card is issuing the CliP Card on behalf of member banks to enable customers to slim their wallets by storing all their cards in one payment card.

Creating a new customer experience
Customers select which card they would like to use by pressing a button that scrolls through options on the card display. The CLiP Card was launched together with KT, South Korea's largest telecoms company, in response to the slow adoption and complexity of mobile wallet products.

Addressing the challenges of mobile payments
According to KT, the combined transaction volume of more than 10 "BRAND Pay" mobile payment services in South Korea last year was only 1.7% of the total credit card payment volume. The CLiP Card is designed to address continuing slow take-up of mobile in-store payments.

Cards for paying, smartphones for managing payments
Customers download the KT CLiP mobile app, connect to the card over Bluetooth and then load their payment applications into the CLiP card via the smartphone. They select the payment product to use at the POS and manage all of their cards and transactions from their mobile phone.

BC Card will explain the CLiP Card business model, the challenges in developing this innovative solution and the benefits for their member card issuers, merchants, cardholders and partners.
